The Ryanair plane had to make a forced landing right after taking off from Balice Airport. The incident took place on Monday, October 14, before 9 p.m., and was caused by the aggressive behavior of a passenger. He allegedly tried to choke the person sitting next to him and did not listen to the crew's instructions. The police and ambulance were waiting on the runway. The plane continued its flight without the aggressive passenger.

On Monday evening, the duty service of the Border Guard Post in Kraków-Balice was informed by the officer on duty at the Kraków-Balice International Airport that the captain of a scheduled flight to Paris was requesting intervention due to a disturbance on board.

"Officers of the Special Intervention Team went to the scene. It turned out that the 34-year-old Pole had physically attacked another passenger right after the plane took off, punched the window and seats and threatened to blow up the plane. Due to the very dangerous situation, the captain of the aircraft decided to return the plane to the airport," Justyna Drożdż from the Carpathian Border Guard Unit described in a statement.

Ryanair's press service sent a similar statement. "We apologise to passengers for any inconvenience, but the behaviour of one passenger was completely beyond our control," it added.

After the officers arrived, the aggressive passenger voluntarily left the plane.

"However, after the Pole was brought to the Border Guard premises - during the explanatory activities - the man became very aggressive, therefore direct coercion measures were used against him in the form of overpowering grips and joined handcuffs were used," she added in the press release.

- Three minutes after take-off, the middle part of the plane started to get crowded. The crew started running to the central part. Suddenly, the lights came on. At one point, we thought it was a situation related to the plane. Later, it turned out that one of the passengers was trying to choke another. People started to stand up, and that was the moment of take-off, which is one of the most dangerous maneuvers.
